How to: Bryan's Star Quilt Block - 30 Days of Sewing Quilt Blocks - Star Version

Alright friends, are you ready for star quilt block #8? Today's block is Bryan's Star. This block is pretty quick and fun to make.



Cutting:
This block will finish at 12"x12" square.

White fabric:
4- 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strips
4- 2 1/2"x2 1/2" squares
16- 2 1/2"x2 1/2" squares
(Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of these.)
1- 4 1/2"x4 1/2" square

Teal fabric:
4- 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strips

Pink fabric:
4- 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strips
4- 2 1/2"x2 1/2" strips.

Sewing:
Place one white 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square on the left side of one 2 1/2"x4 1/2" pink strip.
Sew along the diagonal line.
Trim 1/4" on the outside of the draw line.
Press toward the darker fabric.
Repeat process on the right side of the block.
Repeat this process until you have four pink and white flying geese units.

Repeat this process again with the teal and white fabric until you have four teal and white flying geese units.

Sew one teal and one white flying geese unit together.
Press the center seam open.

Repeat, making a total of four of these units.

Sew one flying geese unit. one white 4 1/2" square and one flying geese unit.
Press.

Sew one pink and one white 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square together.
Press toward the darker fabric.

Repeat, make a total of four of these units.

Sew one white 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip to the right side of the unit from the previous step.
Press.

Repeat, make a total of four of these units.

Sew one corner unit, one flying geese unit and one corner unit.
Press.

Repeat, make a total of two of these units.

Sew the three rows together.
Press.

Now, to make this into a 96"x96" quilt you'll need the following fabrics:

Pink fabric:
2 3/4 yards

Teal fabric:
1 1/2 yards

White fabric:
7 5/8 yards
